Happy holidays from Brisbane Marketing
The festive season is in full swing, which means we’ll soon take a break to spend some valuable time with family and friends.
It’s been a big year for Brisbane Marketing’s business events team. Along with members and partners such as the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, we celebrated a record year of bid wins in terms of economic value for the city.
We also hosted some of the world’s leading conventions across key growth sectors including the International Conference on Robotics and Automation, the Global Forum for Innovation in Agriculture (GFIA) In Focus, and the World Congress of Science and Factual Producers.
Seven passionate Brisbane researchers and professionals were awarded inaugural Lord Mayor’s Convention Trailblazer Grants to help us attract even more significant events to Brisbane, and we staged the 10th Brisbane Pop-Up exhibition for around 250 event planners.
Following Dreamtime 2017, Brisbane Marketing continued our focus on raising Brisbane’s profile as a destination for incentive programs. In June, we led five local tourism and hotel operators on a China roadshow to spread the message about our city’s growing incentive offering. More recently, we hosted a 14 Chinese incentive planners on a three-day famil of Brisbane.
All of this activity took place as Brisbane’s tourism infrastructure boom delivered hotel opening after hotel opening, along with the much anticipated Howard Smith Wharves entertainment, lifestyle and event precinct.
Taking advantage of the new event spaces at Howard Smith Wharves, Brisbane Marketing recently hosted our final business events and tourism member networking event where we celebrated 40 years since the establishment of the city’s first visitors and convention bureau. You can read all about this milestone and see pictures from the evening in this edition.
We look forward to working with all clients, members and partners in 2019. Until then, have a happy and safe festive season.
