Fashion festival is back to strut its stuff

After a year off in 2016, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival (MBFF) returns to Brisbane, running from 27-31 August. Queensland’s premier annual fashion event, MBFF coincides with the arrival of new-season Spring/Summer collections in stores and showcases the very best of local, national and emerging fashion designers and retailers. The new-look festival will be hosted at Old Government House and promises to once again shine a national spotlight on Queensland’s immense fashion talent. 

The BIFF is back

Refreshed, rebooted and packing a punch, Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) is back. The 23rd edition will screen exclusively at Palace Cinemas from 17 August until 3 September and will feature about  60 international and Australian films. The festival will include collaborations with existing Queensland screen culture organisations including the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA), a Queensland Short Film Competition, a free family event, national and international guests, talks, panels and seminars. The program will be released in early July.

School holidays at the Museum of Brisbane


From 26 June, the Museum of Brisbane is offering five full days of hands-on art, design and craft over the school holidays. Aspiring artists and designers get hands-on to create their own artwork in the Young Creatives-in-Residence five-day holiday intensive for young people aged 8-15. Kicking off at 9.30am and running until 4pm, expect a jam-packed day of arts activity and fun with the museum’s dedicated education team.

This year’s Queensland Music Festival is shaping as the biggest yet with artistic director Katie Noonan officially launching July's massive program. Highlights include a 30th anniversary concert of the Go Between's 16 Lovers Lane album, two Lior concerts, 10 concerts from Montaigne, Robbie Miller and Deborah Conway, and the You're the Voice concert at South Bank, featuring a choir of 2500 led by Noonan, Kate Ceberano, Isiah Firebrace, Archie Roach, Troy Cassar-Daley and Montaigne.

The Commonwealth Games come to Brisbane
