The W Hotel opens its doors
After much anticipation, the W Brisbane has opened, marking the re-entry of the luxury W Hotels into Australia. As the city’s first five-star hotel in more than 20 years, there’s plenty of highlights, including a “wet deck” overlooking the river, unique and quirky designs throughout and the venue’s signature restaurant, Three Blue Ducks. Well worth a staycation!
Novotel South Brisbane opens
The city’s luxury hotel portfolio also expanded with the opening of the Novotel South Brisbane. The venue is located in perfect proximity for those looking to experience the theatre, arts and dining of South Bank.
Brisbane’s new riverside brewery
Howard Smith Wharves has unveiled details of Brisbane’s newest riverside brewery – Felons Brewing Co. Set under the Story Bridge, Felons Brewing Co, will be one of the star attractions at the new precinct. It will feature a working brewery, restaurant and bar and is due to open in October. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival
Queensland fashion fans have snapped up more than 2000 tickets to the 2018 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane, less than a week after they went on sale.

Partners recognised as best in the biz
Two Brisbane Marketing members have received top awards. Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC) was named the top caterer in Australia at the prestigious Meetings and Events Australia National Awards, in recognition of BCEC’s commitment to innovation and uncompromised quality.
MCI Australia was recognised as PCO of the Year. Congratulations!
Drink Sake with the Masters
For the first time ever, 11 Sake Masters are touring Australia and will be visiting Brisbane for a one-off event. Taste Japan, without having to leave Brisbane, on 27 June at Urbane Restaurant. The evening starts at 6.30pm with cocktails, followed by a three-course dinner with five matching Sakes for $120. Seats are limited – email for a reservation.
Treasury raises the stakes
The culinary stakes have been raised with the opening of Black Hide by Gambaro at Treasury Brisbane this month. The restaurant showcases top-notch Australian fare, including its signature Wagyu and Angus steak cuts.

After almost 20 years on Brunswick St, Artisan has relocated its gallery, workshop and retail store to the Brisbane Showgrounds precinct. The new Artisan proudly displays the work of more than 80 Australian craftspeople and designers. Well worth a visit.
