Celebrate Brisbane River of Light
One of the daily delights of this year’s Riverfire is the Celebrate Brisbane River of Light. The art-meets-technology water fountain, light and laser spectacular illuminates the night to tell a traditional story about the river. The free show is on now every evening until Saturday 29 September at 6.30pm, 8pm and 9.30pm. Brisbane Festival wraps up with a bang on 29 September with Sunsuper Riverfire, with entertainment from 4pm and fireworks from 7pm. Patina at Customs House
Brisbane’s heritage-listed Customs House has a new restaurant, Patina. The restaurant focuses on fresh seasonal produce and seafood, set against the backdrop of the Brisbane River and Story Bridge. Menu top picks include the mouth-watering pan-fried gnocchi with roasted pine nuts, smoked raisins, kale and salted ricotta, and the chargrilled ocean king prawns with black pepper, curry leaf and sugarloaf.
New look for Stokebar Q
After closing in August as part of a million-dollar renovation, Stoke Bar has been transformed into the newly opened STOKEBAR Q. Along with a slick makeover, STOKEBAR Q is also raising the stakes with seasonal cocktails and snacks. With a backdrop of the city skyline, it’s quite the spot to unwind.
CBD dining goes boom
The much-anticipated Donna Chang and The Boom Boom Room is living up to its hype since opening earlier this month. The exciting new restaurant and bar opened in the Adina Apartment Hotel at 171 George Street. Donna Chang and The Boom Boom Room offer dining and bar experiences unlike anything Brisbane has seen before – from the high-end food and beverage offerings through to the extravagant exteriors.
Brisbane Quarter’s Heritij
Michelin-starred Chef Manjunath Mural, renowned as a champion of Indian gastronomy, has launched his latest project Heritij at Brisbane Quarter. This latest project sees the acclaimed chef teaming up with long-time friend Sridhar Penumechu and Nick Pinn to redefine Indian dining.

B. Lucky & Sons opens its doors in Fortitude Valley’s TC Beirne Building on September 27. The grown-up playground delivers a whole lot of fun accompanied by quirky cocktails, bite-sized morsels, stone-baked pizzas and more. Players can enjoy their favourite arcade games including Mario Kart, NBA Hoops, Space Invaders and classic whack ‘n’ win games.
Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia welcomes Sirromet
Sirromet (Mount Cotton) has been added to the Ultimate Winery Experiences Australia (UWEA) collection, making it Queensland’s first winery to join the UWEA collection. The UWEA collection is a hand-selected collection of Australia’s premium wineries.
Brisbane International Film Festival
Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art will host Queensland’s long-running Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF) from 11 to 28 October. BIFF 2018 is a celebration of contemporary international and Australian screen culture with new-release features and documentaries, shorts programs and retrospectives, alongside screenings with live music, conversations, panel discussions and more.
