2 JULY 2020

Brisbane Economic Development Agency’s (Brisbane EDA) Lucinda Hunter has been awarded the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux (AACB) 2020 Destinations International Prize.

The coveted prize will see Ms Hunter attend the premier event for destination marketing and management professionals, the virtual Destinations International Annual Convention, and participate in the DI 30 Under 30 virtual professional development program.

Ms Hunter joined Brisbane EDA in 2020 as Events Services Coordinator responsible for confirmed business and major events administration, marketing, city activation and leveraging.

Selected for the DI Prize based on an essay submission detailing her thoughts and insights as an emerging bureau professional, Ms Hunter said she was excited and grateful for the opportunity.

“I am thrilled to be attending the Destinations International Convention and to be involved in a program where I can further my knowledge of the business events industry and learn from peers and thought leaders around the world,” Ms Hunter said.

“I look forward to progressing my career in the industry, inspiring event organisers to choose Brisbane for business events, and contributing to my city’s economic recovery and future prosperity.”

Andrew Hiebl, AACB CEO said: “With the impacts of the coronavirus, it is great to see our global partnership with Destinations International still provide opportunities for young professionals to learn from the international business events community and connect with their peers from afar.

“Lucinda Hunter will be exposed to a marketplace of ideas on a national scale which will be unique to the pandemic recovery and future of business events.”

Notes for editors: Brisbane Marketing was renamed Brisbane Economic Development Agency (Brisbane EDA) from 1 July 2020. The name change reflects the Agency’s sharper focus on driving Brisbane’s economic recovery activities on behalf of Brisbane City Council. Brisbane EDA continues its role as Brisbane’s convention bureau with a team dedicated to delivering economic benefit by securing and supporting business events.
