Stellar line up awaits as Regional Flavours returns
Like the state’s brilliant weather, sandy beaches, and open-armed locals, Regional Flavours presented by The Courier-Mail is a Queensland icon.
Held at South Bank Parklands on 20 and 21 July, Regional Flavours is established as the largest free food event in Australia and showcases Queensland’s vibrant food culture with a stellar line up of local, national and international chefs and enthusiasts ready to whet appetites over two fun-filled days.
Deputy Mayor Krista Adams said visitors could expect not only a feast of great cooking and outstanding local produce but also a glimpse of future food trends, innovation and ethical eating.
“Some of the best chefs and biggest personalities will be converging on South Bank Parklands to entertain us during Regional Flavours, and among the many delicacies and expert presentations there is a strong message of sustainability and minimising food waste”, Cr Adams said.
“Regional Flavours also supports regional farmers and the local food industry with producers, artisans, graziers, chefs and over 80 stallholders from 17 regions coming together in Brisbane’s wonderful winter sunshine.”
The focus on sustainability and waste reduction is warmly received by event supporter OzHarvest, who will be busily collecting excess food across the weekend and providing it to local families in need.
“We’re thrilled to be involved once again with Regional Flavours and we applaud the festival’s commitment to food waste reduction and education”, said OzHarvest Queensland State Manager, Amy Cobb.
The festival is now in its eleventh year and attracts more than 85 000 visitors to South Bank, cementing itself in Brisbane’s event calendar and attracting foodies from near and far.
