The University of Queensland (UQ) is Queensland's oldest and largest university, and has a well-deserved reputation as one of Australia's premier learning and research institutions.

UQ is ranked among the world’s top universities, measured through a number of major independent university rankings including the Academic Ranking of World Universities (55), Times Higher Education World University Rankings (65), QS World University Rankings (48), and Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities (41). UQ is one of only three Australian members of the global Universitas 21, a founding member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities, and a member of Universities Australia.

UQ has a strong focus on teaching excellence, awarded more Australian Teaching and Learning Council Awards for Teaching Excellence than any other university in the country, and attracting the majority of Queensland's highest academic achievers, as well as top interstate and overseas students.

The university has more than 52,000 students, this includes 15,400 whom are international students from 135 nations. It has one of Australia's largest PhD enrolments, with more than 16,400 postgraduate students. UQ has three campuses – St Lucia, Herston, and Gatton.

UQ has established eight globally recognised research institutes and attracts A$368 million in funding annually. UQ has an outstanding track record in commercialising innovation, with major technologies employed across the globe and gross product sales of more than $15.5 billion.

UniQuest, established by UQ in 1984, is one of Australia’s leading research commercialisation companies and its innovation portfolio includes Australia's first blockbuster vaccine Gardasil®, Australia's largest biotech IPO (QRxPharma Ltd), the internationally-acclaimed Triple P Positive Parenting Program, and UQ’s superconductor technology which is used in two-thirds of the world's MRI machines.
