The Queens Wharf is a multi-million dollar, world-class, integrated resort development on the banks of the Brisbane River is set to change the face of Brisbane’s CBD. Proposals from the private sector have been called for and they will include a mix of new uses such as five-star hotels, retail, restaurant and entertainment zones, theatre and convention facilities, and new open spaces. A casino licence has been offered by the State Government to support the area’s transformation into an integrated resort development.
Subject to negotiations with the winning bidder, the new precinct is scheduled to begin construction in 2017, with stage one anticipated to be completed by 2020. It will provide Brisbane with a new entertainment precinct that will continue to drive greater leisure and corporate visitation from both the domestic and international markets.
